A first look at Antalya

Walk from Hadrian’s Gate into Kaleiçi, with the Clock Tower and old harbour as clear anchors. Hıdırlık Tower and Karaalioğlu Park make a separate short clifftop circuit. Reserve Seraser for an optional evening meal in a historic residence; 7 Mehmet fits a separate western-coast outing near Atatürk Kültür Parkı. Konyaaltı Beach lies west of the centre, while the Lower Düden waterfall is east, so avoid treating both as extra stops on one old-town walk. Antalya Museum was closed when checked on 24 October 2026. The Ministry lists new-museum construction and the transfer of objects, with closure continuing until the work is complete; no confirmed reopening day is given. Packtricia will check for reopening, but always check the museum before travelling. Use the open Mevlevihane Museum in Kaleiçi as a smaller cultural alternative, rather than making the closed archaeology museum a required stop.

Transport guide

Getting around Antalya

Use Antalyakart’s official app guidance for the current downloads, and its route and stop tools to plan city bus and tram journeys. Google Maps is also named in the operator’s FAQ as a planning option. Planning a route does not buy a ticket. Load a physical Antalyakart at an official loading point or use the app/online top-up service; the operator says an online load is reflected on the card at the first bus or tram validation. Confirm the payment succeeded and validate the card when boarding or entering the tram system. App registration, payment authentication and card setup are separate steps. The FAQ lists contactless bank-card boarding and disposable tickets, but their transfer terms differ from an ordinary Antalyakart: do not assume the same free-transfer entitlement. Check the current route exceptions and transfer windows before changing services. For airport travel, the airport’s own guidance identifies AntRay via Meydan and the city centre toward Fatih; check the departure direction and actual terminal access for your flight. A city card does not include private harbour excursions, intercity coaches or organised day trips.

Check the operator’s current service notices and ticket instructions before travelling.
