City of Arts and Sciences: planning your Valencia visit

Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences is a large setting with several different experiences. Decide what you want to enter and what you want to enjoy outdoors, then plan a visit that gives each choice enough time.

01

Separate the setting from the admissions

Looking at the architecture and visiting a ticketed attraction are different plans. Read the official descriptions for the places you want to enter, and do not assume one ticket covers every building in the complex.

The Science Museum offers science exhibits, Oceanogràfic focuses on marine life, and Hemisfèric presents screenings. Choose by interest: a family keen on animals may want Oceanogràfic, while a film programme can be a more focused choice. Read current age guidance, schedules and ticket inclusions for the experience you select.

02

Check each experience before combining them

Confirm what a combination ticket includes and any date or time conditions. Choose the experiences that interest your group rather than the longest package, especially when a short visit also needs time for food and travel.

If you only want the architecture, plan a walk around the exterior buildings and reflecting pools, without buying a combined admission you will not use. If you want more than one attraction, leave room for lunch and the walk between their actual entrances.

If the aquarium is the experience you choose, check Oceanogràfic entry tickets and give it its own block of time. This ticket covers Oceanogràfic, not admission to every attraction in the City of Arts and Sciences.

03

Mark where your booked visit begins

Look up the specific entrance for your attraction instead of navigating only to the general complex. Give yourself time to reach it, with booking details easy to find, so a long approach does not create a rushed arrival.

04

Dress for the outdoor approaches

Comfortable shoes and sun or rain protection matter between buildings even when the main visit is indoors. Keep one removable layer in a small bag if that suits your comfort, rather than bringing several changes of clothes.

05

Leave room for photographs and a pause

The outdoor setting can be part of the enjoyment, so keep a little unscheduled time around your admission. Take a break before choosing another attraction; a large site is easier to enjoy without constant transfers.

06

Connect the visit to a manageable park route

If you also want the Turia Gardens, choose a nearby section that fits the time and energy you have left. You do not have to walk the entire green corridor to make the two parts of the day work together.

Connect the complex with an eastern section of the Turia Gardens, using the Palau de la Música area as one possible starting point. Keep the old town's Central Market and La Lonja for a different block; they are not beside the complex.

Gardens and architecture of the Royal Alcázar in Seville

Before visiting Seville's Royal Alcázar

The Royal Alcázar is a visit to plan deliberately, with room for its buildings and gardens. Organise your booking and comfortable clothing first, then use the official visitor information to confirm entry requirements for your date.

Before visiting the Alhambra: the details that matter

An Alhambra visit involves more than arriving at a general entrance. Choose the right ticket, understand any Nasrid Palaces time and bring the required identification, then leave space for the wider complex at a pace that suits you.
