Choose a garden morning that suits the conditions
Lodhi Garden is a useful change of pace after the old city’s lanes. Plan a short walk in daylight, using a map to identify the nearest entrance to your transport. Free garden access does not mean every monument interior is open.
Check the local air-quality reading as well as the weather before setting out. A green setting does not guarantee clean air. In winter bring a removable warm layer; in the hot season keep the walk short and stop when the heat calls for it.
Use Muhammad Shah’s tomb as an architectural anchor
Find Muhammad Shah’s tomb on the park map and take in its octagonal form from the paths. This is a good first anchor because it gives you a shape to compare with the squarer buildings deeper in the garden.
Leave time to look across the planting and tree canopy. Stay on permitted paths, respect people walking or resting and avoid entering a closed doorway simply because the surrounding lawn is accessible.
Compare Bara Gumbad and Sheesh Gumbad
Continue toward Bara Gumbad and the nearby mosque, then locate Sheesh Gumbad. Compare the domes, corner details and layered-looking façades without assuming the two structures have the same history. The point is to notice the differences, not collect a photograph of every doorway.
Use the signed routes and available paths to shorten the loop if needed. Historic paving can be uneven or slippery after rain. This is ordinary city walking, but supportive shoes are more useful here than smooth-soled footwear.
An optional northern extension
If you still want to walk, locate Sikandar Lodi’s tomb on the park map and decide whether the available route suits your group. Treat it as an optional extension, then return toward the entrance or road connection you planned.
Do not turn this into a compulsory march to Humayun’s Tomb or India Gate. Those are separate outings with road crossings, travel and different visitor arrangements; their presence on a Delhi map does not make them the next garden path.
A concrete lunch plan after the park
For a central Delhi continuation, Coffee Home on Baba Kharak Singh Marg serves masala dosa, sambhar vada and filter coffee. We recommend it for a straightforward meal when you are heading toward Connaught Place after the walk.
Allow a separate Metro or road journey and check service before setting out. Coffee Home is not beside the Lodhi Garden gate, so carry water and take a break in the park when you need one rather than waiting for lunch.
Mobile data for your trip. Check what your current plan includes for roaming. If you need another option for maps, messages and booking details, compare NXTL eSIM coverage and rates. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, and check coverage for every stop. Download important maps and confirmations for offline use too.
Carry only what makes the walk easier
A small bag with water, sun protection and a charged phone is enough for a short garden circuit in mild weather. Add the layer your month needs and rain protection when showers are forecast; binoculars are optional if you want to watch birds without approaching them.
If heavy rain, heat or poor air makes a walk unsuitable, postpone it and choose a confirmed indoor visit elsewhere. Packtricia builds the fuller list and quantities around your dates, weather, luggage and the outings you actually choose.
