A first look at Chengdu

Pair the Panda Base with a relaxed afternoon rather than a second long excursion. Set aside another day for Du Fu Thatched Cottage and tea in People’s Park, then choose an optional riverfront evening. Checked 21 October 2026: Jinsha Site Museum is closed in all areas for upgrades scheduled from 5 December 2025 through 30 April 2027. Its ancient Shu archaeology makes it worth considering on a later visit, but it is not an available stop now. Choose Du Fu Thatched Cottage instead for a different view of Chengdu’s cultural history.
